Samsung Galaxy Note 9 | The Not So Boring Device We Should Talk About

Samsung will unveil its flagship for 2018 on February 25, the Galaxy S9. Everybody on the internet is convinced that this will be a boring device as in just an incremental upgrade over the S8 with some new features and from the poster, a better camera. Let’s take a step into the future, the next big phablet flagship from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 9. We have crossed the flagship territory a long time ago, but a Note is a Note and this takes the phablet standard to another level. Let’s get into the details of the phone that we should be talking about, Note 9.

For starters, the Note 9 will be launched in September of 2018, and as with every big Galaxy lineup, this one promises a lot in terms of design and features. The front of the display will be all glass, curved to be precise, the Note 9 will be giving up the edge display for a complete curved one.

The display will now be a 2K 6.3-inch panel, keeping the 18.5:9 aspect ratio, fundamentally offering better handling for such a huge device. Why not 4K, you ask? A 4K device will eat up more battery than a regular 2K or 1080P resolution, and with an AMOLED panel who cares, when the color in any resolution will be rich with inky black and saturation levels, unlike any other display.

The sad news though is that we might not see an in-display fingerprint sensor. The already available options are either costly or slow to respond, so the solution is only in the works and we hope to see it soon. But now that the S9 has a much better-placed fingerprint sensor on the back, Galaxy Note 9 won’t disappoint.

Taking a look at the back of the device, we are pretty much getting into futuristic territory here. To start off we have a new silicone for the beating heart, an all-new Snapdragon 855. Based on a new manufacturing process, this new chip will cut through any task like a knife in butter and make sure that the Note 9 will be the first in the race in the performance department. RAM on Note 9 will be an interesting option with storage options now paired with the memory.

A 64GB one will get you a 6GB and to get the 8GB one you will have to opt for either the 128GB or 256GB options. To power all this we get a 4800mAh battery which ensures a day of heavy usage. All this will go nicely with a dual 16 Megapixel sensor for that perfect shot.

One of them will have a focal length of 28mm and the other one will be a 50mm setup, both with OIS and f/1.7 aperture. Galaxy Note 9 will offer a 12 Megapixel sensor for selfies with the same f/1.7 aperture and OIS. Note 9 will also introduce some new features on top it’s own, an updated IRIS scanner and IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.

The S-Pen will also get a facelift with much better pressure sensitivity, although they’re much less to change regarding the design of it.
